Borrowed from the German philosophers and psychologists, the notion of apperception has been developed by several theoreticians of linguistics in Russia, in particular in the 20s. In his book entitled Thought and Language, published in Saint-Petersburg in 1862, Aleksandr Potebnja already devoted a whole chapter to that notion, as wrought by Steinthal, a notion he sought to popularise throughout the Russian Empire. At the end of the 19th century, the main Russian philosophy journal, Voprosy filosofii i psixologii, (Questions of Philosophy and Pschology), suggested, as coined by Vladimir Ivanovksij, a psychology professor at the University of Moscow, a critical review of that notion. It became in full bloom again in the 20s, at the moment when Potebnja’s work was reconsidered with great attention and was looked upon as the cornerstone of verbal interactions, by Lev Jakubinskij in 1923, then by Lev Vygotskij in 1934, or still by K. Megrelidze in 1936. It is this acclimatisation that we wish to study in the present article.
