Lucien Petipa (1815-1898), frère aîné de Marius, a été premier danseur au Grand-Théâtre de Bordeaux, puis à l’Opéra de Paris. À partir de 1839, il danse avec des ballerines célèbres, notamment la fameuse Carlotta Grisi, dont il est le partenaire attitré. Ses qualités naturelles, sa prestance physique, son excellente élévation ajoutées à sa distinction et à ses qualités de mime ont tôt fait de conquérir le public et les critiques. Chorégraphe moins inspiré que son frère, il a composé plusieurs ballets et seize divertissements pour des opéras. La communication s’attache à reconstituer le parcours artistique de Lucien Petipa à partir des sources conservées dans les collections de la Bibliothèque-musée de l’Opéra. Sont notamment abordés les ballets de Lucien Petipa insérés dans les ouvrages lyriques tels que Don Carlos de Verdi.
Lucien Petipa (1815-1898), Marius’s elder brother, was principal dancer first with the Grand Théâtre de Bordeaux, and then the Opéra de Paris. From 1839, he danced with illustrious ballerinas, notably the much-celebrated Carlotta Grisi, whom he partnered on a regular basis. His natural assets, physical presence and excellent elevation, together with his elegance and proficiency for mime soon won him the hearts of both the public and critics alike. He could not rival his brother’s talent for choreography, but still composed several ballets and sixteen interludes for operas. This paper retraces the artistic career of Lucien Petipa from the vantage point of primary sources conserved in the archives of the Library-Museum of the Paris Opera, with specific attention to Lucien Petipa’s ballet interludes, such as those he choreographed for Verdi’s Don Carlos.
Люсьен Петипа (1815-1898), старший брат Мариуса, был солистом Большого театра Бордо, а затем Парижской оперы. Начиная с 1839 года, он танцует со знаменитыми балеринами, в том числе с известной Карлоттой Гризи, чьим постоянным партнером по сцене он являлся. Черты, свойственные ему от рождения, физическая подготовка, благородство вдобавок к прекрасным манерам и актёрским способностям, позволили ему очень быстро покорить публику и критиков. Как хореограф, он видимо уступал своему брату, тем не менее он создал ряд балетов и шестнадцать дивертисментов для опер. В данной работе автор воссоздаёт творческий путь Люсьена Петипа на основе источников, сохранившихся в коллекциях Библиотеки-музея Оперы, а также рассматривает балетные постановки Люсьена Петипа, включённые в лирические сборники, такие как Дон Карлос Верди.
