The subject of this chapter is an examination of the infrequently analyzed connection between the world view of the Swedish theologist and mystic Emmanuel Swedenborg and the founder of the Russian philosophy of All-Unity, Vladimir Solovyov. The similarities between their teachings find their origin in the gnostic and religious nature of Swedenborg’s and Solovyov’s soothsayings. Emanuel Swedenborg (1688-1772) had a universal mind and a multifaceted education. Vladimir Solovyov lived in the end of the 19th and in the beginning of the 20th centuries, at the time of the crisis of European culture. His studies reflected an apprehensive tension in anticipation of the disasters that were about to rift humanity apart, as well as a passionate urge to prevent that tendency. Vladimir Solovyov was not a follower of Swedenborg’s worldview, but he continued his line of reasoning in the convergence of Man and the Divine. His idea of Divine Humanity develops Swedenborg’s teachings on the possibility of the salvation of Humanity. And his theory of All-Unity brilliantly concludes Swedenborg’s insights on the transcendence of Man to Godhood.
