Nous verrons que le spanglish – compte tenu de la diversité des pratiques et des situations dans lesquelles il se manifeste, mais aussi des lecteurs potentiels auxquels il s’adresse – apparaît à cet égard comme un condensé de problèmes traductologiques qui, loin de décourager les traducteurs, semble précisément susciter leur intérêt croissant. Nous soulignerons le lien de cette langue avec l’oralité en général et avec l’argot en particulier, le spanglish étant une langue en mouvement permanent, en pleine création, en évolution constante. La traduction reproduit cette instantanéité du spanglish avec un lexique de la langue parlée, temporel et transitoire, pleinement inscrit dans son époque, et évoluant avec elle. Our purpose is to study from a linguistic and essentially a translation perspective some theoretical problems which are produced by the translation of Spanglish, considered as an artistic and aesthetic plurilingual expression which puts in contact two major languages, American English and Spanish. We will observe that Spanglish – because of the different practices and situations in which it is expressed, but also as a result of the potential readers it is speaking to – seems to be a digest of translation problems though it does not dissuade translators but seems quite on the opposite to arouse their growing interest. We will underline the relationship between this language and orality in general and slang in particular. Spanglish is continually changing, it is in perpetual creation and constant evolution.
