L’article est consacré à Vassili Nikititch Tatichtchev (1686-1750) – haut fonctionnaire, philosophe et auteur d’Histoire russe. L’article aborde la riche littérature secondaire, portant sur Tatichtchev, avec le point sur le livre récent d’Aleksej Tolotchko, qui met en cause l’existence d’un corpus de sources, appartenant à Tatichtchev et perdu plus tard pour la postérité, et, par conséquent, l’authenticité de plusieurs données de son Histoire russe. L’article étudie aussi la biographie de Tatichtchev, donnant ainsi un cadre à quelques remarques critiques sur ses témoignages autobiographiques, qui furent utilisées par la majorité des biographes de l’historien comme une source fiable. Enfin, l’article tente de replacer l’œuvre du Tatichtchev-historien dans le contexte de l’historiographie de XVIIIe siècle, et de montrer la complexité de sa relation avec les Lumières.
This article is about Vasilii Nikitich Tatishchev (1686-1750), a high state official, philosopher, and author of the well-known "Russian History". The article analyzes the rich secondary sources on Tatishchev, in particular the monography by Aleksei Tolochko. That author questions the assumption that Tatishchev had at his disposal a number of sources which were lost later. Tolochko is therefore very sceptical about the value of several pieces of information given only by Tatishchev. The article also deals with Tatishchev's life, re-examining the historian's autobiographical works, which the authors of most of his biographies left unquestioned. Studying Tatishchev's work in the context of 18th-century historiography, the final part of the article shows the complexity of this eminent historian's relation to the Enlightenment.
Статья посвящена Василию Никитичу Татищеву (1686-1750), высокопоставленному чиновнику, философу и автору «Российской истории». В статье рассматривается богатая критическая литература о Татищеве, в особенности недавно изданная книга Алексея Толочко, в которой автор ставит под сомнение существование собрания источников, принадлежавших Татищеву и впоследствии утерянных, а следовательно, и достоверность некоторых данных из его «Российской истории». В статье рассматривается и биография Татищева, что помогает разобраться в некоторых критических замечаниях по поводу автобиографических свидетельств, используемых большинством биографов историка в качестве достоверного источника. И, наконец, в статье делается попытка определить место Татищева-историка и его трудов в историографии 18-ого века и показать всю сложность её отношений с веком Просвещения.
