On doit la première description de la ville sur le Bosphore à un pèlerin de Novgorod, Dobrynia Iadreïkovitch (Dobrynja Jadrejkovič) (†1232), qui, au début du XIIIe siècle, nous offre, avec son Livre du Pèlerin (Kniga Palomnikŭ), une présentation, plutôt détaillée de tout un parcours de dévotion, selon la tradition liturgique orientale, impliquant profondément le pèlerin, avec ses icônes, ses reliques et ses offices liturgiques. Grâce à son récit, l’espace de la Terre sainte est presque remplacé par l’espace constantinopolitain. Antoine voulait sans doute présenter comme exemple Constantinople afin de transformer tout l’espace de Novgorod en une ville sainte, ayant en son centre la cathédrale.
The first description of the city on the Bosphorus comes from a pilgrim from Novgorod, Dobrynia Iadreïkovitch (Dobrynja Jadrejkovič) (†1232), who gave quite a detailed presentation of a path of devotion following the Eastern liturgical tradition in his Pilgrim Book (Kniga Palomnikŭ) at the beginning of the thirteenth century. This path with its icons, relics and liturgical functions profoundly involves the pilgrim. This Book almost replaces the Holy Land by Constantinople. Antonij wanted to exemplify Constantinople and transform the whole space of Novgorod into a holy city with its cathedral at the centre.
Первым описанием города на Босфоре мы обязаны новгородскому паломнику Добрыне Ядрейковичу, который в начале 13-ого века (умер в 1232 г.) предлагает нам в своей Книге паломника подробный рассказ о своём пути к благочестию, согласно восточно-христианской традиции, вовлекающей в процесс самого паломника с его иконами, священными реликвиями и литургией. Благодаря этому рассказу, пространство Святой земли практически заменено Константинополем. Антоний хотел несомненно представить Константинополь в качестве примера, чтобы преобразовать Новгород в святой город с собором в центре его.
